4. Tahoe Rim Trail: Around Lake Tahoe
The Tahoe Rim Trail forms a continuous loop around Lake Tahoe, crossing through parts of the Sierra Nevada and Carson ranges in both California and Nevada. It also shares a 50-mile chunk of the Pacific Crest Trail.
As is typical of long distance hikes, this one includes some remote wilderness, while other sections near towns are popular with mountain bikers and day hikers. Completing the Tahoe Rim Trail is an accomplishment, whether done all at once or little at a time.
