About This Activity
PREREQ: Only students who have been told they are Apprentice II or higher can take this class. This class requires some mad-blacksmithing-skills!! Just in time for hunting season! We will forge a fixed blade hunting knife out of high carbon steel. Forge, shape, heat treat, and finish your knife in four afternoon sessions. Knife sharpness is determined by parents. ;) This knife is smaller than our larger Bowie or Kukri knives, but its purpose is different as well. We will place a major emphasis on the finish work (grinding, filing, sanding) so these leave with a perfect finish on the blade. The edge must be long-lasting, sharp (with parents' permission), and smooth.
